Blue Sky Fly Fishing Guide Service is owned and operated by Capt. Mark Nesbit. He started fly fishing the San Juan River in the early 1990's and immediately fell in love with the river and it's tough fighting rainbow trout and brown trout. New Mexico rainbows are not as large as the California and Oregon steelies, but inch for inch they will fight every bit as hard. Mark founded Blue Sky Fly Fishing Company in 2000 and has been sharing his passion, knowledge and experience of the sport and this world class trout fishery with his clients ever since.
He runs a majority of the trips himself and takes pride in being patient and sociable which allows him to interact with his clientele in a positive manner which makes your fly fishing experience very relaxed and enjoyable. We possess a unique personable manner of passing on knowledge and sharing in your successes without disturbing your concentration or imposing on your fishing solitude.
Peggy Harrell Nesbit
You could call her the queen of the San Juan River. She is the one dispensing expert advice on how to fish the blue ribbon trout waters or offering to guide a couple of lucky anglers below legendary Navajo Dam. In this man’s world of fly fishing guides, it’s a role she relishes. “I love this job,” she says with a beaming smile, “And being a woman doesn’t hurt either.”
You might have met her at Abe’s Motel and Fly Shop where she guided at "Born N Raised" for over 15 years or maybe at Rizuto’s where she started. Peggy now works part time at Fishead's San Juan River Lodge in Navajo Dam, NM. She’s been fishing on the San Juan River for almost 38 years and guiding for the last twenty. Combined with many hours working at local fly shops it’s just the experience you’re looking for in a wading trip on the San Juan River.
